Kidd Brewer Stadium Gameday Guide

ASF StaffASF StaffSep 4, 2026 · 3 min read · 1 views

A trip to Kidd Brewer Stadium is more than just showing up for kickoff. Navigating Boone traffic and finding parking to tailgating, getting through the gates and following App State's game-day traditions, a little preparation can make the experience at The Rock considerably easier. Here is what fans need to know for the 2026 season.

Parking and Getting to Campus

Parking around Kidd Brewer Stadium is limited on football Saturdays, with many campus lots reserved for Yosef Club parking passholders.

Fans without Yosef Club parking can use other game-day parking options, including free parking at App State's Levine College of Health Sciences. The university says 75 spaces are available there on a first-come, first-served basis, with AppalCART transportation running to campus.

AppalCART also provides an ADA shuttle from Hill Street parking to Kidd Brewer Stadium. Game-day traffic patterns are different from normal campus operations, and fans are encouraged to arrive early. Postgame traffic is directed away from the stadium, with App State Police and traffic attendants managing routes based on traffic conditions.

Tailgating Before the Game

For Yosef Club passholders, parking lots typically open at 8 a.m. for games scheduled for 2:30 or 3:30 p.m., although opening times can change depending on kickoff.

Alcohol policies apply to designated tailgating areas. Fans of legal drinking age may consume malt beverages and unfortified wine, but spirituous liquor, kegs, common containers and glass containers are prohibited.

Student tailgating information is available through App State's Office of Campus Activities.

One of the best pregame traditions is the Mountaineer Walk. The team walks from the Harrill Practice Facility toward Kidd Brewer Stadium approximately two hours and 40 minutes before kickoff, giving fans a chance to welcome the Mountaineers before the game.

Gold Out: What to Wear

For designated Gold Out games, the message is simple: wear gold.

App State Athletics identifies the Sept. 5 Maine game as a Gold Out, encouraging fans throughout Kidd Brewer Stadium to create a unified gold backdrop.

For other themed games, fans should check App State Athletics' official game preview and social media channels before heading to the stadium, as themes can vary throughout the season.

Boone weather can also change quickly, particularly later in the fall, so checking the forecast before leaving home is advisable.

Gates, Tickets and Stadium Entry

Kidd Brewer Stadium has five entrances equipped with walk-through metal detectors.

The Echota West Gate, Shelco East Gate and Northwest Gate are open to general patrons. The North End Zone entrance is for North End Zone club ticket holders, while the Mark E. Ricks Athletics Complex entrance serves suite and west club ticket holders and media.

Fans should download mobile tickets before arriving. App State now uses Tap & Go ticket technology, allowing fans to tap a phone or watch at the gate. Screenshots, emails and text-message versions of tickets are not accepted.

The stadium also operates a clear bag policy. Approved clear bags cannot exceed 12 by 6 by 12 inches, while small clutch purses must be no larger than 4.5 by 6.5 inches.

Watching from Home

Selected App State home games are streamed on ESPN+, including the 2026 season opener against Maine.

Television designations can vary by game, and App State says most kickoff times and broadcast assignments are announced approximately 12 days before game day.

Fans should check App State's official football schedule for the latest television and streaming information.

A successful game day at The Rock starts before kickoff. Plan parking early, know the stadium policies, wear the right colors and arrive with enough time to enjoy one of college football's most recognizable game-day environments.
