The Sun Belt Indoor Track & Field Championships felt like a Boone winter storm of talent, the accolades rolling in to prove App State brought the thunder. On Saturday (February 28, 2026), the league announced that eleven Mountaineers collected All-Sun Belt Conference (All-SBC) recognition for their standout performances in New Orleans, highlighting a season of grit, speed, and sheer mountain power.

The Proud Mountaineer Leader

Leading the charge was senior Ava Studney, who wrote her name in program history by becoming the first App State woman to win the Sun Belt indoor pole vault title since joining the league in 2014. Clearing 4.08m (13′ 4.5″) not only earned her gold and first-team All-SBC honors but also vaulted her to second all-time in school history, talk about raising the bar (literally). The rest of the squad delivered fireworks across events, explosive sprints, dominant throws, and relays that had the competition scrambling.

The Result of the honors

These eleven honorees represent the depth and determination that define App State track & field, student-athletes who balance classes, training, and the kind of heart that turns cold tracks into hot competition. While the full list of names and events is fresh from the league office, the haul underscores a strong showing at the championships, where every point, every clearance, and every stride counted toward building legacy.

This recognition comes at a perfect time as the outdoor season looms and postseason dreams heat up. Coach’s crew has proven they thrive under pressure, and with All-SBC nods in hand, the Mountaineers head into spring with extra motivation and plenty of momentum.

They’ve earned every accolade and then some. From the mountains to the medal stand, App State track & field keeps climbing higher. The indoor season may be wrapped, but the story’s just getting started. Stay tuned, these Mountaineers aren’t done soaring yet.
